All-cause age-adjusted excess mortality (against de-trended baseline) ending week 36 for the year 2022 comes in at +12.5%, lower than 2021, but slightly higher than 2020.
In the last few weeks we could see a steady excess of around +10%. It appears that this years summer wave was very mild.
Plotting All-Cause Deaths, with Covid-19 deaths and Vaccinations reveals that currently vaccinations volumes are rather low, and so is excess mortality. (correlation does not equal causation!). However since the vast majority of Americans is now vaccinated and previously infected anyways, we can still not see a return to baseline mortality.
Here’s the excess mortality in percent over time. Despite the missing summer wave, the level is worse than last year. (purple dashed line)
By age group, we can see that all age groups are essentially still abnormal.
Seniors age 65-84, which are vaccinated over 95% still see tremendous excess mortality.
